This was the first race we had run
together as official club runners under the banner of 'Marathon
Drinkers Athletics Club'. We wore our new running vests with pride
although an extra layer was required to keep us warm and to save the
world from my hairy shoulders!
The conditions were far better than the previous year where there
was rain, high winds and sleet so we warmed up within 1 mile (by
which point we had overtaken the camel). We also saw a lady running
around on stilts but lost all respect for her when she revealed she
was only running 3 miles - what a loser!
We had decide to run together so spent much of the run catching up
on fatherhood and single life respectively! Once again the course
was enjoyable with a 3 mile circuit of the famous race circuit
followed by 7 miles around the Silverstone complex before a finish
around a reverse lap of the circuit.
A toilet pit stop was not required so we managed to get home and set
a PB for JJ... just the perfect reason we had to stuff ourselves
silly with hog roast and sauce. Bring on the next half marathon in
just 7 days!
All the junior onions race to start
while we take it easy, watch out for that camel!
